Finding Colour in Nature!
September 2, 2024
With the upcoming release of our picture book Ten Million Colours!, we can't help but notice the magnificence of Mother Nature's palette.
Colour is everywhere, and when we look closely we find much more than a quick glance might detect. Careful observation and active discovery will enhance a child's awareness of their world, enrich their creative interests and abilities, and increase their joy!
Take a look at the following images with your child(ren) and explore the activities below.

🌈See if you can spot all of the rainbow's colours in the photos.
Red❤️ Orange🧡 Yellow💛 Green💚 Blue🩵Indigo💜 Violet🩷
🌈Notice the blue things here, and others you've seen in nature- then go exploring for more!
🌈Watch the sunset or sunrise together and note how the colours change.
Take photos, then get out the art supplies and recreate your favourite.

🌈There are many different shades of green; Ten Million Colours! names 10 of them.
Look at all the different greens in these pictures and then see how many you can find outside!
🌈Admire how the yellow flowers in the photo grow out of the grey/brown rocks.
Notice when you see colour in unexpected places.
🌈Birds love to eat those red berries! What other red foods are found in nature?
🌈What is your favourite colour? Write or draw a list of your friends' and family's favourites.
Does anyone have the same favourite as you?
🌈Keep a colour journal! When you go out in nature, record the interesting new colours you find.
Bring your crayons so you can blend and mix on the spot!
